We envision urban neighborhoods where fresh, abundant, healthy food sustains community.
- Hilltop Urban Farm Vision Statement
Programs
Located on 107 acres of land – with 23 acres dedicated to farming – it is a multi-pronged initiative that produces locally-grown crops, provides agriculture-based education, generates entrepreneurial opportunities, and strengthens communities. Hilltop Urban Farm is set to transform the land it currently occupies.
Central to our mission are three core programs. Our Community Farm Plot grows culturally relevant vegetables, ensuring fresh, nourishing food reaches local food pantries and underserved families. Our Youth Farm nurtures the next generation through year-round, hands-on agricultural education opportunities. Our Farmer Incubator Program empowers aspiring farm entrepreneurs with the skills, resources, and mentorship needed to build successful farm businesses.
Learn more about the direction of each core program, and how Hilltop Urban Farm acts as a dynamic asset for local communities.
Farmer Incubation
Open to anyone over the age of 18, the Farmer Incubation Program will train adults who are eager to learn the fundamentals of urban farming and permaculture.
Youth Farm
Serving as a vehicle for youth education and development, the Youth Farm will engage school-aged children from the Hilltop communities with food production and teamwork.
Growth.
The purpose of Hilltop Urban Farm can be characterized by one word: growth. Growth by design. Growth by education. And growth by community engagement.
“It’s way more than just putting a plant in the ground. It’s about learning some life skills in terms of how to take care of yourself, how to take care of your body, how to be able to work in this environment. It’s about learning how to eat healthy, to be able to build things by doing something hands-on.”
